At Healing Souls Ranch, we are dedicated to a mission of compassion and transformation. We focus on rescuing horses from the brink of slaughter and providing them a sanctuary.  But our work doesn’t stop there, we believe in the powerful, mutual healing bond between horses and humans.

Angel’s Journey

Angel’s journey at Healing Souls Ranch is a powerful testament to resilience and the healing power of love. Rescued from a kill-lot, she was found in a state of profound suffering, bearing the deep scars of a tragic past. Her face was marred by horrific wounds from blunt force trauma, with the injuries hastily stapled closed, trapping infection and further complicating her recovery. As if these challenges weren’t enough, Angel also had to endure the pain of strangles, a highly contagious equine disease and infection.

The first several months after her rescue were spent in quarantine, where Angel fought to regain her strength and heal from strangles. With time, her condition stabilized, and she was finally ready for the next step in her recovery reconstructive surgery. The procedure involved repairing the damage to her face, which required the removal of a piece of bone, leaving a hole that had to be carefully closed. Her body also coped with a large hematoma on her rear leg, filled with fluid, adding to the many obstacles she faced.

Despite these hardships, Angel’s spirit remained unbroken. Her beautiful brown eyes, full of quiet determination, reflected a soul that still had a will to heal and live. With each passing day, her progress was a testament to the love and care she received from the dedicated staff and volunteers at Healing Souls Ranch.

Today, Angel has not only survived but thrived against all odds. She has become a favorite among volunteers and visitors alike, who are drawn to her gentle nature and the quiet strength she radiates. Her journey embodies the very heart of Healing Souls Ranch, where every horse is given a chance to be transformed by compassion and find a path to healing. Angel’s story is a powerful reminder of the difference that love and dedication can make, inspiring all who meet her to believe in the possibility of second chances.
